Was a toy company founded in 1954by D. Originally known as a purveyor of dime store toys, in1971 the company shifted direction and became famous for producing licensed action figures. MEGO created there first figures in boxes but the S. Kresge store (later Kmart Stores) did not have the shelving dimensions with which to display the toys and requested something be designed for their peg board display. The original figure in factory sealed original bubble & card is stunning ANDORIAN Item No 51204/3. One of the last four figures released in the Star Trek series”so the 2nd issued Alien” (along with “THE ROMULAN””MUGATO” & “TALOS”) CHECK OUT THE SALE OF MY OTHER STARTREK ALIENS TO INCLUDE SOME OF THESE AND MORE. Produced for one year only, 1976, extremely rare for this reason and also, so the story goes, a warehouse fire that destroyed the stock. “ANDORIAN” the most accurate MEGO based on the lone classic appearance of a “ANDORIAN” in the episode “Journey to Babel”. The set of antennae adorning the head of “ANDORIAN” necessitated the use of a deeper/taller bubble for the packaging. The figure which is sealed in bubble on a “14 backcard” the only way this figure was released, with an artists rendition of the 5 Star fleet & 9 Star Trek Alien figures, note all the characters have their name printed under them. The illustrated front of the card you will notice (again correct for this last issue) instead of having the pictures of the characters to the front has the fantastic alien landscape with the two satellite planets to the back, unobstructed with pictures to the front leaves this last issued set as the very best for display purposes, with just the figure in bubble and fantastic moon scape image, unique to this issue and in my opinion, although not quite as rare as the PALITOY carded figures a better display piece with the Palitoy card having all the pictures of the other characters to the front. The outfit is accessorised with a pair of brown gloves and a wide black plastic belt with a diamond moulded into the centre and shod in brown boots, this figure doesn’t come with many of the issues that plagued the other figures the only slight problem with this guy is the smallest amount of staining from the black belt but this “ANDORIAN” as been kept well out of UV LIGHTING resulting in a bright fresh as the day he was born colour. This guy fits perfectly in the bubble with a foot in both left and right-hand recess. A fantastic figure in every detail. The bubble is mint with just the very tinniest of bubble lift at the bottom were the bubble swerves around Andorian’s feet, only noticeable because I’m looking over the item with close scrutineering, always, always happens at that place on all the Mego’s. There’s a little crease in the plastic bubble edge where the top face folds over to the side face, “obviously produced when the bubble was manufactured” at the top quarter left hand side, but a very mint bubble all in all. The card is unpunched and undamaged, there is slight surface creasing in the middle of the moon scape scene and the top left. To the reverse of the card a small surface crease running from the unpunched hole to the outer edge. Extremely bright in colour with a good solid feel to the overall quality of the card. A fantastic display piece extremely rare and with more and more people coming into the STAR TREK genre and only very limited supply these things are only getting more collectable.
