Up for Sale is this Beautiful, hand crafted Pilot ERA Communicator. The type associated with the “Cage” and “Where no man has gone before”. Created with an attention to detail and quality. The vintage components for the inner workings are true to the ones originally used such the vintage rotary switch, tubes, resistors(Raytheon & RCA)… As well as a hand soldered metal grill antenna and assembly plus the horseshoe belt clip in the back. Not to mention the accurate battery caps and milled aluminum center knob! This is a very close to the mark comm considering it was hand made. The unit itself is cast in a very clear resin and covered with a couple of coats of crystal clear automotive spray applied for a glass like finish. It would make a fine addition to any prop collection. Take note though, this is NOT a toy and should not be used as such. It’s better off as a static display. The antenna array has a thin bead of solder to attach the grill and frame, so no flipping the unit open. Use a hand to do so. Also, if you suffer from OCD you may not enjoy this prop for what it is, a fan-made prop that emulates the actual one used. The original prop, which I have seen up close had a number of large bubbles in it. In this unit there are some microscopic ones and only noticeable when held next to a bright light. That being said, This prop has a look that satisfies and is a “Must Have” for any prop collector. With over 30 years of award winning experience , you will be getting a quality item.
