Here we have, what could be considered the GREATEST replicas of the Star Trek TOS hypos ever created by mankind! Back in 2001, I had founded Master Replicas. I was also in charge of designing all of the replicas, including the Star Trek product line. As such, we had developed a relationship with Greg Jein, who owned MANY original film props. Greg gave us access to numerous original pieces, so we could create our replicas, and we are all deeply indebted to him. A number of years later, Greg appeared at a convention and he had the medical equipment on display. Based on our prior relationship at MR, I had requested if we could photograph and measure the props and he said… With the help of a couple of my friends, and a great machine shop, I used those photos and measurements to create a VERY LIMITED run of these hypos. These are the ONLY hypo replicas that have been recreated from a direct study of the originals. They are virtually identical but without the 60 years of wear and tear. There are other replicas out there, but they are either of inferior quality, manufactured overseas, and/or were not referenced DIRECTLY off the originals props! These are the only ones of their kind. There are THREE different types. TYPE 1 FIRST SEASON: Polished to a mirror finish with the sliding body. As seen in the episode Miri. TYPE 2 SECOND SEASON: Bright-brushed finish, moving plunger… As seen in Return to Tomorrow. TYPE 3 SECOND/THIRD SEASON: “Hybrid”. Comprised of several different parts, mixed from type 1 and 2. Also a hissss version. Seen throughout 2nd and 3rd season. The type 1 has a black delrin inner layer, and ball-bearings and springs that ride in a track, so that the sliding body moves very smoothly and doesn’t wear on the inner body tube. The types 2 and 3 have an extruded brass tube press-fit inside the aluminum body and a rubber O-ring, lubricated with pressure grease that rides inside so the action is VERY smooth and it hisses. NOT exactly like on the show, as that was a dubbed sound effect! The polycarbonate vials are welded shut and lock in magnetically , so no goofy glass bottle with velcro like SO many other replicas have used! They are filled with mouthwash, that is LOADED with alcohol, so they won’t go septic over time! YOU MUST SPECIFY WHICH VERSION(S) YOU WANT WHEN ORDERING!!!!! I just got really tired of making them. You have no idea.. After a TON of people asking me to make more, I finally gave in. As you may be aware, the Wand Company TOS phaser is GREAT! But the handle is WAY too skinny and the wrong shape. A few years ago, I pulled a mold from my Master Replicas Phaser handle it’s ok… I co-founded that company… And created a new master pattern with the appropriate tabs and drilled-screw hole to match the WC configuration. The MR handle is “perfect” as we scanned and measured the original prop, so it exactly matches the screen-used hero prop. These are newly created from brand new molds, so they are sharp and clean! These are also GREAT for your own custom phaser replicas! Just snip the two tabs off the top and Viola! Or if you want to display your phaser with additional power packs! In addition, I cast two steel bolts into each handle for strength and additional weight (in comparison to just straight resin) and each handle base also has two powerful neodymium magnets cast in-place that perfectly match the spacing/polarity of the magnets in the WC display base. They are very powerful and are completely secure when you snap this handle into place on the display! Please note that this metal-filled resin handle is actually a bit LIGHTER than the WC all-metal handle. Someone said that the weight is “not accurate”. If someone can tell me what a 23rd century, Starfleet phaser handle weighs, then I will happily concede that point! This is “plug & play”. NO additional work is needed. Just remove the BAD WC handle and install this GOOD handle with the WC screw that came with your replica. Each of these castings is done is Smooth-On 305 resin the expensive stuff… That got even MORE expensive over the last year… These are completely prepped, primered, and finished in durable automotive lacquers, sanded between coats. There are about 6 to 7 coats of paint in-total. They are available in THREE COLORS! Gloss Bronze (which photographs weird). You can combine ANY of the above colors in your order. PLEASE SPECIFY WHAT COLOR(S) YOU WANT WHEN YOU ORDER!! It will generally be less, but just to be safe.. YOU’RE NOT GONNA GET THAT. YOU ALREADY HAVE ONE> JUST USE THAT! But you won’t need to return it, because you will be amazed at the quality, fit, and finish!!!
