For Sale is an ANOVOS Star Trek 50th Anniversary Velour Tunic Command Gold, Size LARGE, NEW / Never Worn in Box. This is an Authentic Replica of the velour uniform tunic worn by Captain James T. Kirk in Seasons 1 and 2 of Star Trek: The Original Series (TOS). It is licensed by Paramount Pictures and produced by ANOVOS (who I believe was the only official licensee for Star Trek TOS apparel) and was produced in 2016 to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of TOS, which broadcast its first season in 1966. This is a high quality tunic, made in lush velour fabric and in accordance with the original garment design specifications provided to ANOVOS by the Paramount Wardrobe department. It is perfect as a collectible or for cosplay. As ANOVOS has now gone out of business, it is uncertain whether these will be ever made again by another licensee. Measurements are as follows (to within approximately 1/2 inch). Shoulder (from collar to shoulder) – 9. The tunic is in NEW condition and comes with an “official letter” from Commanding Officer Commodore José Mendez of Starfleet Command, welcoming the recipient to the crew of the Enterprise and presenting him/her with the Enterprise duty uniform. Anovos brand TOS Capt Kirk Tunic and a pair of unbranded matching uniform trousers in great condition – like new! Anovos were a licensed partner with CBS. They were famous for their very high quality in the cosplay community, and screen accurate construction. Sadly they are no longer in business, and so new examples of their garments no longer exist. They produced “Deluxe” versions and “Standard” versions. This tunic is the “Standard” version. The tunic is the Anovos size “Medium” to fit an approx 40 inch chest. It is made from 100% nylon and is more accurate to the season 3 version from the show than the season 1 & 2 suede versions. It has the correct “Command” delta sewn to the left breast, and the detailed braiding on the sleeve cuffs denote the rank of captain. As did the ones used in production in the 1960’s, they open by way of a concealed zipper that runs in the seam on the left shoulder. For aesthetic purposes, the standard large teardrop zipper handle fitted by Anovos, has been carefully clipped off. It was found to be very distracting and drew the eye to itself, unlike the ones in the show which were better concealed. No functionality to the zip has been lost though, and it still works perfectly well. When done up, the collar is additionally fastened by way of two eye and hook clasps. It measures approx 26 3/4 inches from the collar to the hem as seen in the photos. The tunic also comes in the original, Anovos branded carry bag. The trousers are sized for approx 34 inch waist. They fasten by way of a concealed YKK zipper and two clasps, as seen in the photos. They are designed to be 3/4 length cropped trousers and they flare out out the end as seen, by way of some stiffening material inside. There is a slit in the flares to offer a better fit and shape. There is no label inside the trousers so you’ll have to use your best judgement on washing and ironing etc. They measure from top to the end of the trouser leg approx 31.5 inches. They are very comfortable to wear.

This kit contains all the supplies, original designer sewing patterns, and detailed instructions to construct your own Do-It-Yourself, Custom size reproduction of the men’s Gold Command Division Tunic as seen on the first two seasons of Star Trek: The Original Series. The authentic color of the TOS Command Division tunic has been the subject of much discussion by many Star Trek TOS fans over the years, as the tunic color on the television screen has a distinct gold appearance. However, the original fabric was a light avocado green color, and only took on a gold appearance due to the show lighting and film stock used to produce the show. Many fans and cosplayers actually prefer the look of a gold fabric tunic, while others who are sticklers for accuracy insist on the avocado. The fabric included here in the kit is the gold version. 1.5 Yards (54 inches) x 60 inches of Gold VELOUR fabric, sufficient to construct one tunic up to size 2XL. 1 Tunic Sewing Pattern, created by Star Trek TOS Costume Designer William Ware “Bill” Theiss in 6 sizes (XS-2XL), the three original sizes the pattern was created in and three additional larger sizes. 1 – 19-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ Piece of accurate 3rd Season Small Waffle Pattern Black Collar fabric. 1 – 1st/2nd Season USS Enterprise Command Division 3-inch Gold & Black left chest Insignia Patch. 1 – 22-inch “Invisible” Zipper in matching yellow/gold (gets sewn inset in the neck hole seam along the collarbone to the collar). 1 Set 1st/2nd Season Sleeve Braid Set (2 Sinusoidal Ribbon braids and 6 small pips for each sleeve, denoting the Starfleet rank of Captain). 2 Black Hook & Eyelet collar fastener sets. 1 CD with printable Step-by-Step Instructions for tunic construction. The only other supplies necessary to complete the tunic construction (not included here) are fabric scissors, sewing pins, matching gold-colored thread, and of course a sewing machine. Some intermediate sewing experience is required. An experienced seamstress should have no difficulty constructing the finished garment, utilizing the patterns and comprehensive instructions.
