For Sale is a Star Trek TOS 1st/2nd Seasons VELOUR Men’s Captain Kirk Command Division Gold Tunic DIY Construction Kit, BRAND NEW in plastic bag packaging. This kit contains all the supplies, original designer sewing patterns, and detailed instructions to construct your own Do-It-Yourself, Custom size reproduction of the men’s Gold Command Division Tunic as seen on the first two seasons of Star Trek: The Original Series. The authentic color of the TOS Command Division tunic has been the subject of much discussion by many Star Trek TOS fans over the years, as the tunic color on the television screen has a distinct gold appearance. However, the original fabric was a light avocado green color, and only took on a gold appearance due to the show lighting and film stock used to produce the show. Many fans and cosplayers actually prefer the look of a gold fabric tunic, while others who are sticklers for accuracy insist on the avocado. The fabric included here in the kit is the gold version. 1.5 Yards (54 inches) x 60 inches of Gold VELOUR fabric, sufficient to construct one tunic up to size 2XL. 1 Tunic Sewing Pattern, created by Star Trek TOS Costume Designer William Ware “Bill” Theiss in 6 sizes (XS-2XL), the three original sizes the pattern was created in and three additional larger sizes. 1 – 19-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ Piece of accurate 3rd Season Small Waffle Pattern Black Collar fabric. 1 – 1st/2nd Season USS Enterprise Command Division 3-inch Gold & Black left chest Insignia Patch. 1 – 22-inch “Invisible” Zipper in matching yellow/gold (gets sewn inset in the neck hole seam along the collarbone to the collar). 1 Set 1st/2nd Season Sleeve Braid Set (2 Sinusoidal Ribbon braids and 6 small pips for each sleeve, denoting the Starfleet rank of Captain). 2 Black Hook & Eyelet collar fastener sets. 1 CD with printable Step-by-Step Instructions for tunic construction. The only other supplies necessary to complete the tunic construction (not included here) are fabric scissors, sewing pins, matching gold-colored thread, and of course a sewing machine. Some intermediate sewing experience is required. An experienced seamstress should have no difficulty constructing the finished garment, utilizing the patterns and comprehensive instructions.
