This is the same hand scanner that I sell separately, and it features a rubberized base and holographic decals just like the screen-used prop. It also features a medical display on the bottom to match the medical display of the tricorder. This tricorder is based on a common reference model, but the design has been extensively rebuilt for screen accuracy, function, and finish. The faceplate and light bezels have been redesigned to match the dimensions and proportions of the original series prop. The lights are shaped and positioned to match the on-screen appearance. The tricorder includes three magnetically attached interchangeable screens. These screens are printed in high resolution on vinyl labels of the highest quality. They are then covered in a waterproof vinyl laminate. Finally, they are assembled in my screen assembly and covered with a clear “lens” to replicate the look of glass. The following screens are included. A landing party science display. A medical display created specifically for this build. A “powered off” display for static display. The moiré label is my own design and uses the same optical method used on the show. It is also covered in a clear plastic “lens” to add reflectivity. Hidden magnets have been designed into the lower door so it stays open naturally without flopping shut, and the body is printed with a textured finish to replicate the surface of the original prop while eliminating visible layer lines.
