Original Keith Birdsong painting used for the cover to the Star Trek book, Q Squared (1994). The painting features photo-realistic images of Captain Picard, Q, and Trelane (from ToS). An additional image of Picard in an electrifying light saber battle redolent of Star Wars is at the top of the piece. The painting was done on 40″x 30″ Crescent board and was completed in 1993. It is notable for being one of just 2 appearances of Q on a book cover painted by Birdsong, as well as perhaps the only painted image of Trelane. Some followers of Qanon. Believe the “Q” in Qanon comes from the virtually omnipotent and omniscient Star Trek character that both helps and hinders the Enterprise crew. Keith Birdsong, a Native American artist (Muscogee Creek-Cherokee), is perhaps the most prolific Star Trek artist. During the 1990s, a decade that witnessed 3 different Star Trek series and several movies, Birdsong illustrated Star Trek book covers, collector plates, Video Game boxes, and other licensed merchandise. Keith Birdsong also did artwork for the US Postal Service, and his works are featured in the Smithsonian museum. Sadly, he passed away in 2019 at the age of 59. Painting is in excellent condition. Art is signed and dated in the lower right. Live Long and Prosper!! The item “1993 Star Trek Q Squared original book art Picard anon Trelane Keith Birdsong” is in sale since Monday, January 25, 2021.
