The Ultimate Original Star Trek Library 30 Great Volumes
Create an instant “ultimate Star Trek library” of your own with this fabulous offer! All 12 volumes of the Fotonovels. All 12 volumes of the James Blish novelizations. And 6 volumes of behind-the-scenes, insider “confessions”. 1 The complete 12-volume Star Trek Fotonovels set of paperbacks. Bantam, New York, 1977-78. Full colour photos with captioned dialogue. All are the first editions, printed in the USA. All are in mint condition other than a previous owner’s signature in the top right corner of the flyleaf. 2 James Blish wrote the novelizations of Star Trek episodes and published them in a set of 12 paperback volumes before he died in 1975 the final volume was finished by his widow, J. Lawrence, who is co-credited for it. All were published by Bantam, New York, between 1967 and 1977. All are less than 200 pages. My copies are all printed in the USA. Only the last volume is the first printing; the other volumes go to as many as 25 printings. All are in near-mint condition with the following exceptions: all have a previous owner’s signature in the top right corner of the flyleaf; volume 10 has a creased front cover and a worn-white spot on the bottom back cover, as well as a stamped price on the flyleaf. 3 Six books originally published in the 1960s and’70s revealing how the original Star Trek TV series was created and produced, how it was written and how to write for it, what letters the original fans wrote about it, and what its future appeared to be maybe they guessed correctly, maybe they guessed incorrectly. You’ll have to read it to find out! These books come straight from the horse’s mouth: scriptwriters, producers, publicity agents, etc. Not from the other end of the horse. The Making of Star Trek. Whitfield and Gene Roddenberry. Written by Whitfield but credited to both men. Ballantine, New York, 1968, 18. Paperback, 414 pages, and as the saying goes: “Lavishly illustrated”. Almost mint condition: tiny bit of wear at the very bottom of the spine, and a previous owner’s signature on the flyleaf. Absolutely fascinating, everything you ever wanted to know about the series. This silver cover is extremely rare on the resale market! “The Trouble With Tribbles”. (full title on front cover: The Complete Story of One of Star Trek’s Most Popular Episodes: “The Trouble With Tribbles”) by David Gerrold. Ballantine, New York, 1973, 6. Paperback, 272 pages, and lavishly illustrated. Mint condition except for a spine crease from the printing press (not from being read) and a previous owner’s signature on the flyleaf. The wonderful, entertaining, engrossing story of how David Gerrold – an unpublished, unknown rookie writer – came up with a great idea for a Star Trek episode, wrote it, got it accepted for production, and survived the process of turning it into the best-loved episode of the series. The World of Star Trek. Ballantine, New York, 1973, 9. Paperback, 276 pages, with 64 pages of photographs. Published in tandem with Gerrold’s “Tribbles” book (above), this one puts the other book in context by explaining the phenomenon of the Star Trek universe, both on TV and in the real world. Gerrold is a delightful writer, witty and insightful with a smooth, readable style. The black cover of this version is hard to find. Condition is near-mint; previous owner’s signature on flyleaf. Personal Notes and Anecdotes. By Jacqueline Lichtenberg, Sondra Marshak, and Joan Winston. Bantam, New York, 1975, 7. Printing, printed in USA. The three authors were publicists, archivists, and convention organizers for the show. They share their insiders’ experiences with the entire world of Star Trek. Condition is mint other than a previous owner’s signature on the flyleaf. Star Trek: The New Voyages. Edited by Sondra Marshak and Myrna Culbreath. Bantam, New York, 1976, 6. Printing 1977, printed in USA. Condition: mint, other than a previous owner’s signature on the flyleaf. The first collection of fan fiction, this one is highlighted by cast-written introductions to each story. Beautifully clean copy, with still-vivid yellow page trim. Letters To Star Trek. Edited by Susan Sackett. Ballantine, New York, 1977, FIRST EDITION, printed in USA. Condition: mint other than a previous owner’s signature on the flyleaf. Surprisingly well worth the read; consistently interesting.
