The 1979 Advance Foil Variant Very Good condition in a rolled state. Not to be confused with the normal film poster from 1979 as this is far rarer. The Design: Designed by artist Roger Huyssen, it features a stark, minimal black background with brilliant rainbow-coloured “warp lines” bursting out from behind a large, metallic reflective silver foil “STAR TREK” logo. The Material: Unlike standard theatrical posters of the era, the studio printed the advance foil variant on a much heavier cardstock/paper block specifically to prevent the heavy foil stamping from tearing or warping the poster. The Size: An authentic original US One-Sheet version of this poster measures exactly 25.25 inches by 39.25 inches. This is slightly shorter than the standard 27″ x 41″ theatrical size because the heavy printing press machinery required for the foil stamping had strict boundary limits. The Texture: If you pass your hand over the front of the poster, the silver “STAR TREK” letters should feel completely smooth, distinctly metallic, and slightly indented or debossed into the heavy paper stock. The Backside: The silver foil text will not be visible on the reverse side. Instead, you should see a heavy indentation mirroring the exact outline of the logo letters pressed from the front stamping process.
